Inlays, Onlays

Encinitas, Carlsbad, and San Diego

Inlays and onlays are lab-processed restorations. They are used when the amount of tooth to be restored is too large for a conventional composite filling, while preserving more of the natural tooth than a porcelain crown. This is a two-visit procedure.

Inlays are used to restore small areas between the cusp tips of your tooth that require more strength than a conventional filling. Onlays are larger and will cover one or more cusp tips but not the entire exterior of your tooth like a crown.

They are processed in the lab for a precise fit and are strengthened under high heat and pressure. When bonded in place they will make your tooth stronger.

If you have large silver-mercury fillings in your mouth, you may be a candidate to have porcelain or composite inlays and onlays fabricated to restore the natural beauty of your teeth.

Please call or email us today to schedule your Inlay / Onlay consultation. Dr. Walsh-Cole, serving Encinitas, Carlsbad and Rancho Santa Fe, and San Diego, uses beautiful porcelain and composite inlays and onlays to restore your teeth and replace your unsightly metal fillings.
