The intraoral camera provides a detailed visual tour of your mouth. The digital images appear on the chair side computer monitor so Dr. Walsh-Cole can review them with you and explain the importance of each image.

 

Digital x-rays expose you to 10% of the radiation of conventional x-rays. They are a fast procedure and allow you to immediately view them on the chairside computer monitor. Again, Dr. Walsh-Cole will help you visualize any problems that are present in your mouth.

 

Early detection of dental caries has been made easier by the DIAGNOdent instrument. It is a laser that can detect early breakdown in the tooth enamel allowing the tooth to be restored sooner. This may prevent deep carious lesions from developing which would result in much larger restorations.

 

Dr. Walsh-Cole uses a soft tissue Diode laser for several procedures. Unwanted gum tissue can be removed to eliminate a gummy smile by exposing more of the tooth structure. This creates a more balanced and symmetrical appearance. The laser can also help treat gum disease by vaporizing damaged gum tissue and removing the bacteria and their toxic excretions.

 

As a neuromuscular dentist, Dr. Walsh-Cole is experienced in diagnosing and treating TMD/TMJ problems. Recurrent headaches, facial pain or discomfort in your jaw muscles or joints may be signs that you are suffering from this condition.

 

The K7 Evaluation System is used to measure muscle activity, record jaw movements, and record joint sounds. This equipment aids in achieving an accurate diagnosis and fabricating an appropriate appliance to start you on the path to recovery. A TENS unit (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) is also used to relax the jaw muscles.
